Telangiectasia aka “spider veins” are dilated or broken capillaries that occur near the surface of the skin (or mucosal membranes). Most common location is the face. The skin lesions themselves are relatively benign but can be a sign of a more serious disorder or underlying genetic disease. Sclerotherapy or laser therapy is used to eliminate these vessels.
