Answer and topic summary

The answer is A. Intracranial hemorrhage

An arteriovenous malformation is an abnormal connection between arteries/veins. They are very dangerous when present in the brain and can lead to intracranial hemorrhage and epilepsy. They are relatively uncommon. Overall, the most common genetic cause of brain AVMs is hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT; Osler-Weber-Rendu syndrome). Brain AVMs present between 10-40 years and clinical features may include: seizures, headaches, strokes, and focal neurological deficits. Diagnosis can be made with neuroimaging (MRA or CTA). Treatment options depend on many factors and may include medical management vs microsurgical excision or stereotactic radiosurgery.
