Condyloma acuminata, also known as anogenital warts, are lesions caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is a double-stranded, circular DNA virus (non-enveloped). It is the most common STI. Typically HPV strains 6 and 11 are indicated (90% of cases). On exam, you will see cauliflower-like lesions; these lesions are usually asymptomatic. Treatment may include 5-FU, trichloroacetic acid, podophyllin, cryotherapy, or even immune modifiers (like imiquimod).
