Answer and topic summary
The answer is E. Both A and B
Food and nut allergies are hypersensitivity reactions to certain allergens. The most common food allergens are seafood (shellfish or fish in general), eggs, and peanuts. These reactions are usually IgE-mediated and can lead to acute onset of urticaria, rhinitis, wheezing, angioedema, flushing, hypotension, tachycardia, diarrhea, etc. The most obvious approach in managing a nut allergy is 100% avoidance of the culprit food item. Patients must be educated on reading food labels, cross-contamination, etc. All patients with a history of systemic reaction to a food allergen should be given an epinephrine auto-injector. About 20% of people will outgrow a peanut allergy.
