The answer is E. High socioeconomic status
Gastric cancer is the 5th most common cancer. Risk factors include H. Pylori, nicotine, low SES, EBV, obesity, and diet rich in nitrates/salts. Clinical features include nausea, weight loss, dysphagia, abdominal pain, melena, hematemesis, Virchow node (left supraclavicular adenopathy), umbilical nodule (Sister Mary Joseph node), mass felt upon DRE (Blumer shelf), or ovarian mass (Krukenberg tumor). EGD with biopsy is the diagnostic test of choice. The mainstay of treatment for gastric cancer that has not yet become metastatic is surgical resection with peri-operative chemo.
