Parasomnia sleep disorders are defined by unusual behaviors that occur when falling asleep, during sleep, or when waking up. There are many different types: sleepwalking disorder, sleep terror disorder, nightmare disorder, REM-sleep behavior disorder, restless leg syndrome, and recurrent isolated sleep paralysis. Sleep terror disorder specifically is when patients have nightmares and have severe distress during their nightmares (tachycardia, agitation, tachypnea); however, they do not recall it at all.
