Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that comes from thyroid follicular cells or parafollicular cells. There are different types: papillary (MC), follicular, anaplastic, and medullary. Risk factors include child radiation to the head/neck and family history. Clinical features include palpable mass, a feeling of pressure in the neck, choking sensation, hoarseness, airway obstruction, or enlarged lymph nodes. Initial work-up includes thyroid function tests and thyroid ultrasound. Most of the time the management is total thyroidectomy.
